Lindsey Vernon is a Connecticut-based writer who holds an MFA from Fairfield University, where she was Assistant Editor for Woodhall Press and a reader for Brevity. She earned a BA from Albertus Magnus College, receiving the Laurel Award for Academic Excellence in English and publishing in Breakwater. Before her MFA, she served as a Technical Writer and Editor for nonprofits and major corporations like Disney, ESPN, and 3M. She now focuses on writing flash stories and completing her first thriller novel. She mostly loves opportunities when she can mentor female emerging writers and under-represented writers. Each week, she captains a flash writers group for Fairfield University alumni and students. When she's not doing writerly things, she cherishes quality time and travel with her family and Shih Tzus.

Lindsey's work spans domestic thrillers, crime mysteries, and supernatural tales, often set against moody New England backdrops. Her stories explore themes of family dynamics, trauma, resilience, and survival. Her work often features complex female characters, protagonists and antagonists alike, honoring the fact that we humans are all morally ambiguous characters on this earthly stage. From flash fiction to plays to full-length novels, she uncovers raw voices and untold perspectives, always inviting readers to question the human condition and their own preconceived notions.

As of October 2024, she is completing her manuscript, curating her flash fiction and nonfiction into two collections, submitting her shorter work to one thousand lit mags, and donning a different Halloween-themed shirt each day. When the horror movie marathons end, and she cuts herself off from toiling over craft and every single word of every single sentence, she will resurface in the real world to go on the hunt for agent representation.

In the meantime, she is available for proofreading and editing projects, pro bono mentoring opportunities (prefer female emerging writers and under-represented voices), and inquiries for commissioned work. You may send your serious inquiries only to Lindsey@LVernon.com. General soliciting and spam will be reported and blocked immediately. Please do not send job offers out of left field. Lindsey L. Vernon is a seasoned and serious creative writer and editor, not a resume writer, MS Word fixer, or zookeeper. Though, she did love being a Dairy Queen server and Starbuck's barista—no surprises there.
